Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 public health emergency and its impact on live performance venues and productions across the country the 2020 Helpmann Awards are cancelled. The Awards will not be held online. Click here for the full media release.

What productions are eligible to enter the annual Helpmann Awards?

Generally a production is eligible to enter the annual Helpmann Awards if it is produced or presented by an LPA Member. For futher information head to our ‘Eligibility’ page

Can members of the public attend the Awards?

A select number of general public tickets are made available to purchase for the Helpmann Awards Act II event. Act II includes a Red Carpet Walk and there are options to include an After Party ticket. Act I is an industry only event and by invitation only. Ticket information is usually announced in May.

Who are the JC Williamson and Sue Nattrass Awards named after?

The JC Williamson Award is named after James Cassius (JC) Williamson, who established the company that went on to dominate the Australian theatre scene for much of the 20th century.

The Sue Nattass Award is named after Sue Nattrass AO who, amongst many achievements, has been a long serving LPA President and the first woman to hold the position.

For the very first time in Melbourne, the stars of the Australian live theatre and entertainment industry came together for two remarkable nights. Forty-three prestigious Helpmann Awards presented at the Victorian home of the performing arts, Arts Centre Melbourne on July 14 and 15.
